Withania somnifera Dunal (Solanacea) has traditionally been used in Asia for safely managing and treating stress. Also known as Ashwagandha and Indian ginseng, it belongs to a rasayana (vitalizer in Ayurvedic medicine) group of medicinal plants that stabilize and revitalize systemic functions. Withania somnifera promotes stress relief, relaxation, mental well-being, health and longevity by potentiating the immune system, arresting premature aging, restoring homeostasis and increasing resistance to adverse environmental factors, collectively known as the antistress – adaptogenic effect. Sensoril® is a particular patented extract of the root and leaf of Withania somnifera with a high level of bioactive components. Stressed and anxious subjects treated with Sensoril® report improvements in the reduction of stress, anxiety and related disorders such as: fatigue, sweating, loss of appetite, headache, muscle pains, palpitations, dry mouth, insomnia, irritability, forgetfulness and ability to concentrate. Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body. It has been recognized as a cofactor for more than 300 enzymatic reactions, where it is crucial for adenosine triphosphate (ATP) metabolism. Magnesium is required for DNA, RNA and protein synthesis. Moreover, magnesium is essential for the regulation of muscular contraction, blood pressure, insulin metabolism, cardiac excitability, vasomotor tone, nerve transmission and neuromuscular conduction. Magnesium also contributes to the reduction of tiredness, fatigue and to the normal psychological function. Gröber U, Schmidt J, Kisters K. Magnesium in Prevention and Therapy. Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin that is part of the B group. It acts as a coenzyme for more than 140 biochemical reactions, including the metabolism of amino acids, lipids and carbohydrates, the production of neurotransmitters, DNA synthesis and of the RNA, the immune function, the biosynthesis of the heme (component of the hemoglobin for the transport of oxygen in the red globules) and the homeostasis of the homocysteine (metabolite that damages the vases). B6 deficiency is found mainly in the elderly and a slight deficiency is sufficient to generate negative implications, such as cognitive and memory problems in the central nervous system and peripheral neuropathies in the peripheral nervous system. Vitamin B6 also contributes to the reduction of tiredness, fatigue and to the normal psychological function. Its need increases when the body is subjected to stressful conditions.
